39 Fuel Stations Shut Down for Tampering with Pump Meter Readings, and Individuals Involved Referred to Public Prosecution

The Permanent Executive Committee for Fuel Stations and Service Centers, represented by Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, has continued to carry inspections and handle reports of fuel stations suspected of installing devices to alter the quantities of fuel sold at the pumps.

The inspection teams have shut down 39 fuel stations for installing devices to tamper with the quantities of fuel sold at the pumps in 19 cities and provinces. Legal procedures have been taken against them in accordance with the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law and the measurement and calibration Law, and individual involved in these violations have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Permanent Executive Committee for Service Centers and Gas Stations stressed the importance of gas stations and their workers adhering to all requirements and regulations related to the gas station and service center sector, and not to be complacent in imposing statutory penalties on anyone proven to be involved in cheating or misleading consumers in accordance with the regulations.​
