Under the generous auspices of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy, and His Excellency Dr. Bader Hamed Al Mulla, Minister of Oil in the State of Kuwait, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Aramco Gulf Operations Company (AGOC) and the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), to develop the joint Durra Gas Field.
The MoU signing ceremony took place in the State of Kuwait, Sunday, 17 Jumada Al-Awwal 1444 AH, corresponding to 11 December 2022 AD, in the presence of AGOC Chairman, Eng. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Buraik. The MoU was signed, on behalf of the Saudi Party, by AGOC President and CEO Eng. Ali bin Saleh Al-Ajmi, and on behalf of the Kuwaiti Party, by KGOC CEO Eng. Khalid Nayef Al-Otaibi.
The signing of the MoU is considered as an implementation of the minutes of Durra Offshore Gas Field Development signed in March 2022 AD. The development works will resume directly and will be accelerated according to the program implementation plan and timeline approved by the two countries.
The development of the Durra Field comes in implementation of the provisions of the MoU signed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait in the State of Kuwait, on 27 Rabi’ul-Akher 1441 AH, corresponding to 24 December 2019 AD, which included joint work on the development and exploitation of the Durra Field.
It is worth mentioning that the Durra Gas Field will produce an amount of one billion cubic feet of gas; to be divided equally between the two partners, and this agreement will benefit the two sisterly countries.
