HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Minister of Energy, signed five MoUs with several African countries, including Ethiopia, Senegal, Chad, Nigeria, and Rwanda. The MoUs, signed during the Saudi-Arab-African Economic Conference in Riyadh, cover cooperation in various energy fields.
The MoU signed between the Kingdom and Rwanda establishes a framework for implementing Oil Sustainability Program (OSP) initiatives. It aims to enhance the economic and environmental efficiency of oil and gas, focus on innovation and the environment, promote integration between the oil and petrochemical industries, develop demand for hydrocarbon resources, and achieve the objectives of the "Middle East Green Initiative (MGI).
The MoU serves as a practical implementation of the "Empower Africa" initiative launched by the Kingdom during MENA Climate Week held in Riyadh last month. The initiative aims to contribute to support African countries in addressing challenges of accessing reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy supplies, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, and improving human health and well-being.
