HRH Minister of Energy Tours Several Factories Specialized in Producing Energy Components

HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, accompanied by HE Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of State, and HE Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, toured today several factories specialized in producing energy components in the Riyadh Industrial City.

The tour comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to enhance energy localization in the energy sector, aiming to achieve a localization rate of 75% in energy components by 2030. The Ministers were briefed on the progress of energy equipment production, including electrical panels for connection, control, automation, and distribution, as well as Smart Ring Main Unit factories for electrical stations.

Prince Abdulaziz toured the facilities of Al-Gihaz Holding Company, including a newly launched factory specializing in energy equipment and electrical panels with an annual production capacity of 25,000 units. The minister was briefed on three key production lines within the site and viewed a visual presentation detailing additional production lines and the high-quality processes used to manufacture energy equipment and electrical panels for connection, control, automation, and distribution.

The new factory serves as a cornerstone of the company's projects in engineering, design, and grid system automation, in addition to the manufacturing of control panels and current and voltage conversion equipment. The facility employs a total of 500 engineers and staff, including 100 Saudi female employees. The plans are underway to double the factory's production capacity in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the energy sector's goal of achieving a 75% localization rate in sector components by 2030.

HRH Prince Abdulaziz also visited Alfanar's factories, where he was briefed on the company's production processes and advanced technologies. During the visit, he received a detailed presentation on Alfanar's efforts in technology ownership and industry localization, highlighting the company's key role in enhancing local content and contributing to the growth of the national economy.

During his visit to Alfanar, HRH the Minister of Energy, inaugurated Smart SF6-free Ring Main Unit (RMU) factory. The facility is the first of its kind in the Middle East and employs over 700 Saudi women. The factory marks a significant milestone in adopting clean technology and plays a vital role in reducing the Kingdom's carbon footprint.

During the visit, Alfanar's research and development team showcased the advancements achieved in medium voltage systems technologies and highlighted key accomplishments that reinforce the company's leadership in innovation and technological progress.

HRH was also briefed on the company's efforts in renewable energy projects, including wind and solar, as well as its sustainable aviation fuel facility, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies, and clean hydrogen. Alfanar also showcased its advanced technological capabilities, enabling the delivery of sustainable, cutting-edge solutions for energy distribution.
