This all aim at enabling the states of the region to implement their national contributions, and help achieve the ambitious objectives set by the Middle East Green Initiative.
The Second Project includes the establishment of a regional center to accelerate the pace of reducing emissions, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). It aims at enhancing opportunities for regional cooperation in support of emissions reduction efforts and accelerating the adoption of the circular carbon economy model. The center will be a robust platform that allows the region-based states to express their opinions, participate effectively in global climate dialogues, and develop a clear roadmap for reducing emissions.
In agreement with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Third Project includes the Kingdom’s hosting of MENA Climate Week 2023, in the period leading up to the holding of the 28th edition of the “Cop28” Climate Conference, with the participation of regional and global stakeholders with the aim of exploring challenges and opportunities, reviewing innovative solutions, and promoting climate action.
