The Ministry of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. The MoU aims at developing collaboration in energy fields by enhancing digital transformation and innovation, renewables technologies, energy efficiency, hydrogen technology, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) through the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) approach.
The MoU, signed by H.E. Dr. Essam bin Saeed, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, Acting Minister of Energy, and H.E. Dr Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, includes enhancing digital transformation and innovation in the energy field, building capabilities through training and exchanging energy field-related information, conducting joint research, and organizing work sessions, panel discussions, seminars, and multilateral conferences.
It is worth noting that the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) is one of the Kingdom’s climate-related initiatives that was proposed during its G20 presidency and endorsed by the G20 in 2020. The CCE is a comprehensive and integrated framework to address and manage GHG emissions through 4R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Remove.
