HRH Minister of Energy and Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry chair the meeting of the Committee on Economy and Investments of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council

HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, and H.E. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, who is currently visiting the Kingdom, co-chaired the meeting of the Committee on Economy and Investments of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council during its current session.

HRH Minister of Energy noted the Saudi-Indian strategic relations, which enjoy the support of the leadership in both these countries. Prince Abdulaziz added that the visit of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to the Republic of India in 2019, has ushered a new era of strategic partnerships manifested by establishing the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council that includes several joint committees.

The Committee on Economy and Investments of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council includes several working groups for energy, agriculture and food security, information technology, and industry. These joint working groups have delivered several achievements.

In the field of energy, three MoU's have been signed between the two sides - one on cooperation in renewable energy and two between King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and Indian research centers. As a result, three joint seminars and two workshops have been held and 24 research papers have been published on the joint activities.

With regard to information technology, one MoU was signed to establish an innovation center in Riyadh aimed at enhancing digital leadership. Some of its key outcomes have been six innovative projects, already delivered, and the development of 20 innovation-related centers.

In industry, four MoUs were signed in the field of mining to export Saudi products, such as phosphate and ammonia, to India.
