The Saudi Ministry of Energy in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action organized on Wednesday a roundtable meeting, on the margins of the visit of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Energy, to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Saudi Minister of Energy presided over the Saudi side in this meeting, in which representatives of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and a number of energy companies participated.
On the German side, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Vice-Chancellor, Robert Habeck, attended the meeting along with a number of major German energy companies.
The meeting addressed various topics, including cooperation in the fields of electricity, clean energy, hydrogen, and emissions management through carbon capture, utilization, recycling and storage projects, within the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework.
At the outset of the Saudi Minister’s visit to Germany, the Ministry of Energy organized the "Saudi-German Energy Day," in which more than 120 Saudi and German energy companies participated.
HRH Prince Abdulaziz also met with the Head of the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Minister for Special Tasks, Wolfgang Schmidt, and the State Secretary for Economic, Finance and European Affairs of the Federal Chancellery, Jorg Kukies. The Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy, Adel Al-Jubeir, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman discussed strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom and Germany in various economic fields, especially in the energy field.
Moreover, the Saudi Energy Minister met with the State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action at the German Federal Foreign Office, Jennifer Morgan.
They discussed issues of common interest in climate action, and preparation for holding the 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held in the United Arab Emirates at the end of this year.
