HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, met today with HE Claire Coutinho, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero of the United Kingdom, in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the two sides noted the bilateral relations between the two countries and explored mutual cooperation in various fields of energy, as well as future opportunities in the energy sector within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the United Kingdom.
The two sides also discussed mutual cooperation in the development of holistic clean hydrogen standards, focusing on emissions rather than sources, as well as the formulation of policies pertaining to carbon capture, transport and storage (CCTS). Moreover, they addressed topics related to the localization of energy components, exchange of expertise in the field of energy, and formulation of relevant regulations and policies.
Furthermore, they highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to address climate change challenges through local and regional initiatives including Saudi Green Initiative, Middle East Green Initiative, and the efforts of Oil Sustainability Program.
Both sides explored the enhancement of cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, petrochemicals, power plants, and localization of energy sector components. They also expressed their aspiration for the participation of companies from both countries in the implementation of numerous projects in these fields.
