King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Ranks 10th Globally in Petroleum Engineering

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran ranked 10th globally in petroleum engineering for 2020, according to the QS World University Rankings 2020, which is one of the most popular university ranking programs, and one of the most followed in the world.

His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, said in a statement: “The university’s achievement shows that it has already become among the leading international universities in this field," considering it as evidence of the efficiency of academic and research performance, as the university strive to increase the quality of its outputs continue the commitment to excellence that it has been keen on throughout the years.

"The university's acquisition of this rank is an incentive for further development and conformity to international standards in the educational process, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Highness the trustworthy Crown Prince for their support for all Saudi universities, which resulted in the acceleration of the development steps of universities towards universality. 

Acting University President Dr. Mohamed Al-Saggaf said: “The university is keen to move forward in the path of academic and research excellence, to make a qualitative impact on the Kingdom’s economy, and to contribute to enabling the Kingdom to achieve the transformation into a new knowledge-based economy, multi-sources, and based on advanced technology. He stressed that the university is working hard to be an active element in achieving the Kingdom's Vision of 2030, and keeping pace with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

It is noteworthy that King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals had recently introduced more than 21 subspecialties, at the undergraduate level, and announced the launch of 15 new master's degree programs, and also reformulated all its academic programs with digital basis, integrating the study of digital science with  all other disciplines, to support the digital trend adopted by the Kingdom and the world, focus on the requirements of new and advanced technologies, aim to meet the requirements of the fourth industrial revolution, respond to the new global transformations, and commensurate with the renewable and evolving needs of the labor market and the new economy.​
